Center for Family Living - Family Therapy

HISTORY — LENEXA

The Center on Family Living (CFL) was founded in 1978 at the Friends University main campus in Wichita. In 1985, the Center became a part of the University's graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy.

In 1998, a second facility was added in Mission, Kan., when the Master's of Science in Family Therapy program expanded to two sites. This facility provided the program's second site with a training facility where student interns would provide the greater Kansas City area with free or low-cost therapy services under faculty supervision.

In the fall of 2004, the Mission site relocated to its current site in Lenexa, Kan. This facility also has state-of-the-art therapy rooms with the capacity to observe and record sessions for training purposes.

Today the Center on Family Living in Lenexa serves as the training facility for graduate interns in the advanced stages of their degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. All graduate interns are supervised by clinical faculty members within the Friends University Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program.
