Part-Time Teaching Opportunities
Friends University does not fill specific adjunct vacancies with applicants. Advertised vacancies are filled only with qualified adjuncts who have completed our entire assessment process.
A minimum of a master's degree is required to teach any course at Friends; a doctorate degree is preferred for graduate courses. The candidate should have academic and professional experience appropriate to the intended teaching field; preference is given to those with previous college teaching experience.
The assessment process usually takes several weeks and includes the following:
- Candidate submission of an application and transcript of highest degree completed for initial review. (Transcripts may be unofficial transcripts at this point. Official transcripts must be submitted before any payment can be made.)
- The application and credentials will be evaluated by hiring managers who have a need for the candidate’s skills.
- When a need is anticipated, the candidate will be invited to present a teaching demonstration. This teaching demonstration should be focused on lessons that are closely related to employment or former teaching experience as well as the major field of study.
- The teaching demonstration is successfully reviewed by an assessment panel or program director to determine the qualifications of the candidate. If the candidate passes the assessment, the program director will contact the candidate for further information.
