Master of Science in Organization Development

Dr. Jim Maddox
|
In today's business climate, individuals are being asked to do more with less, deal with new technologies, revolutionary changes, restructuring and new competition. At the same time, individuals are tasked with the goal of moving their organizations forward to meet these challenges. The field of Organization Development offers the knowledge and skills to address the challenges we face. Such topics as managing change, training and developing employees, and understanding group dynamics and human behavior in organizations are addressed.
Additionally, the program addresses the implementation of performance improvement efforts and how students can develop the skills of being performance consultants, serving in this role both internally in their respective organizations or functioning as external consultants. An important aspect of the curriculum is the practicum and the applied project where students gain the experience of applying the knowledge and skills gained from the core program courses.
As the only program of its kind in the area, MSOD is accredited by the Organization Development Institute, which means graduates do not have to take the written test when applying to be a Registered Organizational Development Consultant (RODC). This certification is an indication to employers that Friends University graduates have received strong preparation and training in the field of OD.
