Division of Fine Arts
The Division of Fine Arts is one of the largest on the Friends University campus with about 300 students participating in Art, Dance, Drama and Music. The Department of Music is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and offers majors in Music Education, Performance and Music Theatre. The division's many choral and instrumental organizations give students excellent ensemble experience.
Whittier Fine Arts Gallery provides monthly exhibits of works of outstanding contemporary artists, as well as student and faculty exhibits. Art curricula includes Art Education, Art-Business, and Commercial Art.
Friends University Ballet Department offers a BFA in Ballet with an emphasis in performing. Annual productions presented by the department include a fall dance concert, The Nutcracker, a spring ballet performance, the Christmas Candlelight Concert and Symphony of Spring performances.
The Fine Arts Division is located in two buildings on the campus at Friends University: The Riney Fine Arts Center houses the music, dance and drama programs, as well as the division Chair and the division secretary. The Garvey Art Center houses the visual-arts program.
