Marriage and Family Therapy Program Outcomes

Mission – Provide a foundation for practice as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapy mental health provider
Philosophy – Present a profession-focused, adult learning environment for ongoing development as an MFT Clinician
Goals – Create a transformative developmental trajectory inclusive of three domains of MFT Professional Competency (interpersonal, theoretical, clinical practice)

Students will:

  1. Demonstrate awareness and regulation of self emotion.
  2. Demonstrate awareness and regulation of self in interaction.
  3. Demonstrate constructive response to difference.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to promote therapeutic alliance.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to use therapeutic influence constructively.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of relevant conceptual knowledge.
  7. Demonstrate application of relevant conceptual knowledge.
  8. Demonstrate integration of multiple concept frameworks organized by systematic/relational orientation.
  9. Initiate and assess treatment need.
  10. Plan and facilitate research/theory informed intervention.
  11. Evaluate progress and conclude treatment.
  12. Utilize supervision and professional collaboration.
  13. Follow legal, ethical and professional standards.
