For Cathy Rider, Friends University’s Master of Health Care Leadership (MHCL) program was an investment in her future.
“The MHCL program gave me a competitive advantage in the market place,” said Rider, M’08.
Prior to completing the program, Cathy was the residency coordinator for Via Christi Regional Medical Center.
“Upon completion, I obtained a promotion to physician recruiter. That made the educational investment well worthwhile,” she said.
Cathy chose Friends University’s MHCL program for its diverse curriculum.
“The program provides a comprehensive educational experience that I felt would serve me well as I explored advancement opportunities in health care,” she said.
Rider said that the program delivered a practical, professional education that motivated and inspired her.
“It provided a dynamic, intellectually stimulating environment for learning,” she said. “The combination of adjunct professors and classmates with frontline healthcare experience creates a synergy of knowledge that brings added value to the classroom.”
Cathy not only left the program with professional knowledge, but she also remains friends with many of her classmates.
“My MHCL cohort has remained friends. After spending every Tuesday night for two years together, we became very close,” she said. “Periodically, we meet for dinner and debate the latest changes in health care.”
