The History/Government Education program at Friends University prepares students to teach grades 6-12. This four-year program includes student teaching in the fall semester of the senior year. Graduates are licensed to teach by the state of Kansas after successfully completing the degree and passing the Principles of Learning and Teaching Exam (PLT). Other requirements for a degree include a cumulative 2.75 grade point average with no “D” grades in the major. History/Government Education graduates may be licensed to teach a variety of subjects including history, political science, geography and sociology.
