Endowed in the fall of 2003, the Garvey Institute of Law serves to perpetuate Willard W. Garvey's long-standing interest in graduate-level education and to enhance application of the analytical skills and legal knowledge gained from the study of law to business and professional practice within the American free enterprise system.
Throughout his life, Willard W. Garvey, Wichita-area philanthropist and entrepreneur, had a passion for building education and volunteerism, including a deep belief that a good legal education could enhance success in business. To this end, the Garvey Institute of Law provides significant enhancement and expansion to the already established excellent reputation of Friends University's programs in business and human resource management, further enabling Friends University graduates to serve the business and professional community of Wichita and the surrounding region with excellence and integrity.
The Garvey Lecture Series invites distinguished speakers and experts to Wichita, serving as a resource to the legal, business and professional communities. These invited experts will provide lectures, workshops and/or short courses in current topics to students, professionals and community members in south-central Kansas.

“I would definitely recommend that they go to a place like Friends University and at least inquire about it. What they would learn is that it’s not as difficult as they think. It can be intimidating … but the rewards, in my opinion, are great.”
