Dear Educators,

Great things are happening in the Graduate Workshops department!

Friends University offers graduate level workshops across a number of content areas and grade levels, supporting the needs of educators seeking re-licensure opportunities, salary advancement or professional development. Workshops also provide elective options for students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) or Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) degree programs.

In response to requests made by our many loyal participants, you may now enroll and pay for workshops online. Online enrollment is easy, with all necessary information needed to register located within the current Graduate Workshops brochure (see left navigation or link above). Online registration will allow you to select, pay, and receive confirmation of workshop enrollment in one transaction!

Step One-New Students Only


If you are new to Friends University, never having taken a workshop or class, you will need to begin by completing a brief application (see left navigation). Two to three days after submitting your application, you will receive an email from the Friends University Information Technology department, providing a user identification number (student ID) and pin number (password). You will use these numbers for all future registrations, so please keep them in a safe place.

 

Returning or Current Students


If you have taken previous workshops, classes, or are a current degree-seeking student, then you have already been assigned a user identification number (student ID) and pin number (password) for Self-Service Banner (SSB). If you have forgotten, misplaced, or never realized your numbers, please contact the HelpDesk at 1-316-295-5767 during listed business hours (see below) or email helpdesk@friends.edu. You may enroll for workshops during open enrollment times with your assigned SSB numbers.

 

Step Two-Enrollment

 

Spring enrollment for workshops will open to the public on December 1, 2014! You may enroll 24/7 at your convenience. Use the information provided in the brochure (crn#’s, title, dates, cost) to assist you as you select workshops. Click on the Enrollment and Payment tab to begin the process. Classes fill quickly so don’t wait! If you need assistance, call 1-316-295-5516 during regular business hours or email educationworkshop@friends.edu.

Exciting News!
Did you know that workshop credits taken through Friends University could be applied toward elective requirements as part of the overall Master of Arts in Teaching Degree? To find out more, click on the Master of Arts in Teaching Degree tab. You will be glad you did!

Still Have a Few Questions?

 

  1. Can I change the PIN that has been assigned to me by the IT department?
    Yes! Once you have received your USER ID and PIN you may change your PIN number to better suit your needs.
  2. If I have taken workshops before, do I still need to apply?
    No, as a returning workshop or degree-seeking student youhave already been assigned a user identification number (student ID) and pin number (password). If you do not know what those numbers are, please call the Information Technology Department at 1-316- 295-5767 or email them at helpdesk@friends.edu. A representative will be available to assist you in person during the following hours:
    Full service Help Desk hours (this includes Self Service Banner assistance):
    Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
    Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Limited after-hours support (this does not include assistance with Self-Service Banner, but password resets can be performed):
    Monday – Thursday 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
    Saturday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Sunday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
  3. I am a current MAT/MACM or other area Friends University degree-seeking student. Do I need to apply again?
    No, the necessary system access has already been created for you.
  4. If I do not apply first, will I be able to register for workshops?
    No, as online registration requires you to have a user identification and pin number. This protects your information!
  5. What happens if I lose/forget my user id# or pin#?

  6. What if I apply now, but don’t want to take a class until later?
    That’s okay! Go ahead and apply, but be sure to save your assigned numbers. On occasion, if you have not registered for a long period of time, you will be asked to verify your original application information. Once again, this is to protect your information.
  7. What are some of the services I will receive with online registration?
    You will receive access to your account located in self-service banner, which will provide a history of previously taken classes. You may also view a copy of your unofficial transcript. This may be extremely helpful as you are reviewing your re-licensure dates and needs. You may also view grades immediately after they are posted as well as add/drop classes according to the policies and dates listed and for each offering.
  8. When can I register for a workshop?
    You may register for a workshop during open enrollment. Spring enrollment is open to the public beginning December 1, 2014! We suggest you enroll quickly, as classes will fill!
