Alumni Benefits

As a member of the Alumni Association, you will have many opportunities to stay connected with Friends University and your former classmates. The following list describes your benefits, upcoming events and opportunities.

Focus Magazine Subscription – Two times a year, you will receive the Friends University magazine, Focus. Included in Focus are articles from the president, current news about University, and features about Friends students and alumni.

Friends Flash! Friends Flash! is a monthly online newsletter that includes information on upcoming campus events, student activities and sports information.

Campus Connection Class Newsletters – Class newsletters – individual to each decade, degree-completion program and graduate program – are written specifically by a designated class agent for each degree or decade and are published three times a year.

Campus Tours – Tours are usually offered during class reunions, but you and your family are always welcome to stop by the Alumni Office, located on the second floor of the Davis Administration Building, to take a private tour of the campus.

Alumni Scholarship Award – Each year the Alumni Association awards $1,000 scholarships to four first-time freshmen who have 3.0 GPA and who are continuing their family's legacy of attending Friends University. Legacy Scholarship Award – All traditional undergraduate students whose parent(s) is a graduate or former student of Friends University (defined as having completed 12 credit hours) will automatically receive a non-competitive Legacy Scholarship of $200. Students will then be eligible to renew this $200 scholarship for each subsequent class year they attend Friends University so long as they maintain a 2.0 GPA. Students who receive the $1,000 competitive Alumni Scholarship are not eligible for the $200 non-competitive scholarship.

Volunteer Opportunities – Several opportunities are available to help the Alumni Association.

Homecoming – Each fall, you will be invited to come home to the Friends University Wichita campus to reunite with former classmates and to participate in the Homecoming activities.

Easter Egg Hunt – This annual event is held at the Wichita, Topeka and Lenexa sites and open to children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other young family members under the age of 9 of Friends University alumni.

Knowledge Is Power Lectures – These informational networking and educational opportunities usually include discussion on a timely topic, a complimentary meal and a chance to connect with other professionals and alumni.
