Battle of the Decades

Show your school spirit and join the excitement as we kick off the second annual Battle of the Decade's Alumni & Friends giving challenge on March 16 - March 22! This is your chance to represent your decade and compete with fellow alumni and friends for bragging rights and a spot on the coveted Battle of the Decades trophy.

The decades competing are 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s and 2010 (2020’s will be combined with 2010).  The 60s decade emerged victorious in 2023 with 33 donations - will your decade lead the way in 2024?

Rules:

·       Make a donation to the Falcon Fund and earn points for your decade. You may choose one or more decades to support. In addition, you can donate multiple times a day for the duration of the challenge. The decade earning the most points will win the championship. $10 minimum donation to participate.

o   The more donations made per decade, the more points earned.

How to Earn Points:

·       Donation Points = 5 points for each donation**

·       Mega Marks = additional 10 points will be added to every decade that hits the 100, 300, 500, etc. point mark.
**Donation points are earned per number of donations made not per dollar donated.

How to Advance:

·       Decades with the highest number of points will advance to the Final Four round. Participants in the two decades that do not advance to the final four are encouraged to support one of the remaining four.

·        Points will be calculated on Tuesday, March 19th at 5:00pm and the top four decades will compete in the Final Four.

·        Points will be calculated for the Final Four round on Wednesday, March 20th at 5:00pm and the top two decades will compete for the Championship. Participants in the two decades that do not advance to the championship are encouraged to support one of the remaining two decades.

·       The championship round will conclude at 3:00pm on Friday, March 22nd and the Battle of the Decades championship winner will be announced at 4:00pm on the Friends University Alumni facebook page. 

Points for each decade will be updated daily and posted on the Friends University Alumni Facebook page.

Volunteer opportunity:
We need several class champions for each decade to help us promote the Battle of the Decades alumni and friends giving challenge.  Rally your family, friends, fellow alums and church/community groups to spread the word, post on social media platforms, and participate to help your decade earn the most points and win the championship.  If you would like to serve as a class champion, please contact Sanya Wiles at 316-295-5298 or sanya@friends.edu.

The Reward:
The winning decade will earn bragging rights and a spot on the Battle of the Decades trophy to be displayed in the University Advancement Office located in the Davis Administration Building.

In the end, everyone who participates in the Battle of the Decades alumni & friends giving challenge is a champion because every donation received will help provide scholarship funding to future students who otherwise may not be able to attend.
