Friends University will induct four former Falcon athletes and one former administrator into the Athletic Hall of Fame at the annual induction ceremony Saturday, Feb. 4, in between the 2 p.m. women’s and the 4 p.m. men’s basketball games versus Bethel College in Garvey Gymnasium. The five honored inductees are:
Friends University graduate and GMA Dove Award-winning musician Mitch McVicker will perform in the “Evening with Friends…” fundraising concert series Friday, Oct. 21 in Friends University’s Alumni Auditorium.
Now a nationally known Christian recording artist, McVicker attended Friends University in the early 1990s, where he met and befriended the late Rich Mullins. After graduating in 1995, McVicker moved to New Mexico, eventually touring and writing songs with Mullins, also a 1995 Friends University graduate.

Young family members, ages 0-9, of all Friends University alumni, faculty, staff and students are invited to collect eggs and candy at the 28th annual Friends University Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, on the front lawn of the Davis Administration Building.
A reunion for former Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) fraternity members will take place in conjunction with the 13th annual Chili Cook-off and basketball games Thursday, Feb. 17, in the north lobby of the Garvey Gymnasium.
Faculty sponsor of PBL Marilyn Jones has announced her retirement at the end of the 2011 spring semester. The reunion will also celebrate Jones’ years of work with the organization.

The Chester and Vera Pitts family are the first family to receive the Family of the Year Award. The family received plaques during halftime of the Sept. 11 home football game. The recipients were selected based on dedication, commitment and years of service to the University.
Alumni, staff, faculty and students at any of the Friends University locations are welcome to participate in the fun of the annual Easter egg hunts in March and April.
The Kansas City location will host its fifth Easter Egg Hunt March 27. The hunt begins at 10 a.m. with line-up at 9:45 a.m. at the Lenexa Education Center. Approximately 75 are expected to attend in the hunt for 100 eggs this year.
The Kansas City Alumni Advisory Board is hosting their spring alumni mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Talk of the Town Grill and Bar located on the northwest corner of 119th Street and Quivira in Overland Park, Kan. The social mixer will help alumni reconnect with classmates and is for all alumni and their families.
Friends University students, faculty, staff and alumni will celebrate Homecoming 2009 with a parade, carnival, food and reunions.
This year’s festivities will center on the theme “Destination: Homecoming.” Events will kick off Sept. 21 with a week full of student-targeted activities, such as intramural sports, a scavenger hunt and a dance.
