King’s Legacy Inspires Friends University Students to Volunteer

A group of Friends University students will be taking Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s message and mission of community service to heart, as they volunteer to help two Wichita organizations in celebration of Dr. King’s birthday.

About 30 students will help the Ronald McDonald House and the Wichita-area United Way from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 21.

Friends University’s Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi Earns National Award

Friends University’s chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, has been named an Honor Chapter for its outstanding activities in 2010-11. Professor Jerry Smartt, the University’s chapter adviser, was instrumental in earning this national honor that was awarded to only 11 chapters nationwide in 2011.
