One of Christian rock’s biggest names will be performing a free concert at Friends University at 8 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
Remedy Drive’s hit song, “Resuscitate Me,” spent five weeks at No. 1 on Christian rock radio and was nominated for the 2013 Dove Awards song of the year.
“Their music is upbeat and energetic,” said Jennifer Randolph, associate director of campus life at Friends University. “It’s enjoyable and fun to watch for everyone.”
A group of Friends University students will be taking Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s message and mission of community service to heart, as they volunteer to help two Wichita organizations in celebration of Dr. King’s birthday.
About 30 students will help the Ronald McDonald House and the Wichita-area United Way from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 21.
Friends University’s chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, has been named an Honor Chapter for its outstanding activities in 2010-11. Professor Jerry Smartt, the University’s chapter adviser, was instrumental in earning this national honor that was awarded to only 11 chapters nationwide in 2011.
