Friends University is pleased to announce the opening of Eclectic, featuring artwork by Friends University faculty, students and recent graduates, at Exploration Place’s Bridging Art and Science exhibit (located on the indoor bridge) through October 2013. The campus community and the general public are invited to an opening reception that will take place Friday, June 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Various pieces using different media will be shown – including acrylic, mixed media, digital photography, linoleum block prints, embossing and digital graphics.

Nathan Patrick’s photography will be on display June 3 to July 26 in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery. There will be a final Friday reception June 28 from 5-7 p.m.

Patrick is an artist who has experience in many medias. In addition to serious professional pursuits, he has dabbled in stand-up comedy, poetry, book writing and photography.

Join us for an old-fashioned outdoor summer band concert as the Concert Band joins the Senseney Music Community Band for a day of marches and traditional tunes at 3 p.m. May 5. The concert will take place on Rose Window Plaza, directly in front of the Davis Administration Building.

Tenor Earnest Alexander will perform in this free concert. There will be a free-will offering to benefit Youth Horizons.

The Friends University Singing Quakers will perform their annual Symphony of Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. April 25-27, and 2 p.m. April 28 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. This year’s production, “Heroes and Villains,” will feature works from a variety of Disney shows, old musicals, and other Broadway productions.

Friends University choir members will share their voices and their favorite cookies during a fundraiser at 7 p.m. April 21 in the lower level of the Casado Campus Center.

There will be coffee mugs available for sipping java while enjoying the performance. The proceeds will benefit the Concert Choir’s tour next year.

This event is free and open to the public.

An exciting night of big band music will close the Friends University Jazz season at 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. The annual Senior Night concert will feature and celebrate the graduating seniors in both Jazz Ensembles.

Join the Friends University Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. April 8 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. This standards concert will feature standard literature from the wind band repertoire. Senior Jeremy Schrag, a performance major and previous winner of the Miller Concerto Competition, will be soloing with the band.
