The Friends University Concert Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. Bassoonist Nancy Goeres will be joining the Concert Band.
Principal Bassoonist Nancy Goeres joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 1984. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh Nancy held similar positions with Florida Orchestra, The Caracas Philharmonic, and the Cincinnati Symphony.

Audiences will be hard pressed to keep their toes from tapping during the Friends University Community Orchestra’s performance of “Let’s Dance” at 7:30 p.m. on February 4 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
Artwork by current Friends University art students will be on display now through Feb. 7 in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery.
Students that will have artwork featured are Ashleigh Kelepolo, Courtney Kruger, Dylan Seeney, Eythan Rodgers, Janelle Oder, Jessica Wall, Jordan Sallee, Joseph Harrell, Lacey McFadden, Madison Tucker, Martina Salerno, Mary Hernandez, Meryl Loop, Minshen Du, and Olivia Orozco.
A Final Friday reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Dallas-based conductor and director Dr. Joshua Habermann will take the stage as the guest clinician as the Friends University choirs present their annual Choral Connections Concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30.
The Friends University Theatre department will perform "The Wakefield Mysteries" by Adrian Henri at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23-25, and 2 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
"The Wakefield Mysteries" were originally penned as 32 rhymed playlets written in the 15th century and performed in an annual cycle involving a community-wide celebration. This modern adaption re-tells the story of the Creation to the Passion, sharing the truth of those familiar tales in a relevant way to today’s audiences.
Join the Friends University Ballet Department as dancers perform their annual full-length production of “The Nutcracker” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13-14, Dec. 20-21; 2 p.m. Dec. 15 and Dec. 21 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
Join Friends University’s choirs for the annual Christmas Candlelight concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7, and 2 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. The Singing Quakers, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Jazz Vocal Ensemble will be performing.
This Christmas tradition highlights the University’s choirs and includes the audiences’ participation in a few favorite traditional Christmas carols.

Romance, misdirection and confusion will take the stage as the Opera Workshop class performs a one-act opera at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. Nov. 24 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
“L’Occasione Fa Il Ladro” (The Opportunity Makes the Thief) is a one-act opera by Gioacchino Rossini. The first performance of this Italian opera was in Venice 1812. The Friends University Chamber Orchestra will provide the orchestra music for this performance.
