Prom is a rite of passage for many high school students – an expensive one, at that. And one that is out of reach for many area students.

To help many high school girls who couldn’t otherwise afford a prom dress, Friends University hosted Gown Town April 2 in the Casado Campus Center’s McKay Gymnasium. All area high school students were invited to select from more than 1,000 donated gowns after registering at the door. Seamstresses were on hand to provide alterations to the free gown, and various prizes and coupons were given out.
