Great Conversation!

Isn’t it great when you can sit down and enjoy a really great conversation with interesting people accompanied by a good meal? One that doesn’t revolve around your work day, the kids’ homework or tomorrow’s schedule of soccer games and band practice?

Then join us for just such an evening: Great Conversation!

Friends University is pleased to continue this stimulating event where topics of cultural and intellectual interest are discussed, ideas are exchanged and people from diverse backgrounds and experiences come together to enjoy each other’s company.

Great Conversation! features prominent community leaders and Friends University faculty hosting conversations on a wide range of topics.

Participants are assured a topic of interest as they make their first, second and third selections from a list of 23 topics at the time of registration (on the web, by mail or by phone), so the table of up to 10 participants finds their evening both enlightening and energizing.

Purpose of Event
  • To engage the community in stimulating conversation around relevant topics of interest and community importance.
  • To join with community leaders and thinkers to spark new ideas, build consensus, and stimulate involvement in community issues.
  • To support Friends University as it provides an outstanding liberal arts educational experience to its students.

How do I prepare for the discussion?
You need not be an expert on any of the topics; the moderator is the expert and will provide background information to set the stage for the discussion. He/she will guide the conversation with questions that will spark conversation among the table participants. Feel free to share, ask questions or simply absorb the information being shared.

What does it mean to sign up for three different topics?

Of the topics, select your favorite three and, based on availability, you will be assured one of those three. The sooner we receive your registration, the more likely it will be for you to receive your most desired topic. Registration will open to the public September 1, 2012.

What is the evening’s attire?
Business casual is the suggested attire.

Is there a refund if I am unable to attend Great Conversation! after I have registered?
Unfortunately there is no refund provided. However, a portion of the cost is tax-deductible. An option is to give your seat to someone else. Simply contact to let us know of this change prior to the day of the event.
