Students in the Health Sciences program are traveling to Cancún, México and Cuba from June 2-16 to complete a service learning experience. Students will complete their service practicum at local institutions for the care of the elderly and disabled children, spend time at La Salle University in special sessions for discussing and processing their experiences as well as other service learning activities during the duration of their stay.
While in México and Cuba, Dr. Karyn Turla, professor of biology, Dr. Jerry Smartt, professor of Spanish and director of foreign languages, and Karen Scroggins, assistant professor of graphic arts, along with several students, will post images and stories online. The blog connects students, alumni and friends as they travel through México and Cuba. Click here to view the blog.
