All of the institutional aid listed below is available for traditional undergraduate students. This list of scholarships applies to the 2009-10 academic year.

COMPETITIVE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Garvey Presidential Scholarship
All admitted freshmen who have an ACT composite score of 29 may apply. (SAT total scores will be converted to an ACT composite score.) Each recipient will be awarded $10,000 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.8. The scholarship will be cancelled if this average is not maintained, and it cannot be renewed. Withdrawal from the University automatically cancels the scholarship, and it cannot be renewed. Applications are available in the Admissions Office.
Presidential Scholarship
All admitted freshmen who have an ACT composite score of 28 and/or CGPA of 3.8 may apply. (SAT total scores will be converted to an ACT composite score.) Each recipient will be awarded $8,500 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 3.7. Withdrawal from the University automatically cancels the scholarship, and it cannot be renewed. Applications are available in the Admissions Office.
Presidential Scholarship for Transfer Students
Transfer students who have a 3.7 CGPA may apply for this scholarship. Each recipient will be awarded $6,000 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 3.7. Withdrawal from the University automatically cancels the scholarship, and it cannot be renewed. Applications are available in the Admissions Office.
Imagine the Difference
This scholarship is awarded each year to admitted freshmen who applied for but were not awarded the Presidential Scholarship. Each recipient will be awarded $6,500 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 3.6. Withdrawal from the University automatically cancels the scholarship, and it cannot be renewed.
Imagine the Difference for Transfer Students
This scholarship is awarded each year to transfer students who applied for but were not awarded the Transfer Presidential Scholarship. Each recipient will be awarded $5,500 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a 3.6 CGPA. Withdrawal from the University automatically cancels the scholarship, and it cannot be renewed.
NONCOMPETITIVE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Davis Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to applicants who have a 3.5 high school CGPA and/or ACT composite score of 27. (SAT total scores will be converted to an ACT composite score.) Incoming transfer students must have a CGPA of 3.5. Each recipient will be awarded $5,000 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 3.5.
Dean’s Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to applicants who have a 3.0 high school CGPA and/or ACT composite score of 23. (SAT total scores will be converted to an ACT composite score.) Incoming transfer students must have a CGPA of 3.0. Each recipient will be awarded $4,000 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 3.0.
Honors Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to applicants who have a 2.5 high school CGPA and/or ACT composite score of 20. (SAT total will be converted to an ACT composite score.) Incoming transfer students must have a CGPA of 2.5. Each recipient will be awarded $3,000 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 2.5.
ADDITIONAL INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a freshman son or daughter of Friends University alumni. Applicants must have a high school CGPA of at least 3.0 and/or ACT composite score of 21. Four $1,000 awards will be awarded each year to selected students. Renewal of this scholarship requires a CGPA of 3.0. The scholarship will be cancelled if this average is not maintained, and it cannot be renewed. Withdrawal from the university automatically cancels the scholarship and it cannot be renewed. Competitive academic scholarship recipients are ineligible for this scholarship. Applications are available in the Admissions Office.
Legacy Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to first-time freshmen and transfer students who are a son or daughter of a Friends University graduate or former student who has completed at least 12 credit hours at Friends University. Applicants must have a high school CGPA of at least 2.0. Each recipient will be awarded $200 per year. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 2.0.
Athletic Scholarships
Scholarships will be awarded to students who show special abilities in athletics. The amount of the award is variable. Renewal of this scholarship requires a 2.0 CGPA and faculty recommendation.
Church Match Scholarship
Friends University will match any church scholarship to a student up to $500 per year. Students should submit their request to the governing body of their home church. Renewal of this scholarship requires continued church participation and a CGPA of 2.0. Competitive academic scholarship recipients are ineligible for this scholarship.
Departmental Scholarships
Scholarships will be awarded to students who show special abilities in the following academic divisions: business, education, social and behavioral sciences, fine arts, natural science/mathematics, and religion/humanities. The amount of the award is variable. Renewal of this scholarship requires a CGPA of 2.0 and faculty recommendation.
Falcon Promise Grant
Freshman applicants with a high school GPA between 2.0 and 2.49 and an ACT less than 20. This award is given to students not eligible for academic scholarships but still exemplify what it means to be a Friends University student. This award is Friends University’s “Promise” to the recipient to provide the opportunity and means to a successful college career. Renewal of the scholarship requires a CGPA of 2.0 along with meeting other criteria outlined by the Promise Grant Program. Withdrawal from the university automatically cancels the scholarship and it cannot be renewed. Applications are available in the Admissions Office.
Fine Arts Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded to students who show special ability in fine arts. The amount of the award is variable. Renewal of this scholarship requires a 2.0 CGPA and faculty recommendation.
Institutional Work-Study
Students needing work to help pay for educational expenses may apply for on-campus employment in the Student Development Office.
Horizons Leadership Program
Freshmen applicants must have a high school CGPA of 2.5. Transfer applicants must have a CGPA of 2.0. Each student selected to participate in this program will be awarded $1,000 per year. Renewal of this scholarship requires a CGPA of 2.0 and continued participation in the Horizons Leadership Program. Competitive academic scholarship recipients are ineligible for this scholarship. Applications are available in the Admissions Office.
Ministerial Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded to dependant students of ministers actively engaged in a pastorate or serving as missionaries. Each recipient will be awarded $1,000 per year, not to exceed the institutional maximum. To apply, please submit a letter from the church confirming pastorship or missionary service. Renewal of this scholarship requires a CGPA of 2.0. Competitive academic scholarship recipients are ineligible for this scholarship.
All Institutional Scholarships and Grants require a minimum high school CGPA of 2.0 for freshmen and a college CGPA of 2.0 for transfer students for initial eligibility.
