Friends University’s newest student-housing facility houses 80 upperclassmen (29 credit hours or more) in an apartment-style atmosphere. The three-story brick building offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options, along with laundry facilities on each floor, adjacent parking and the support of a live-in professional staff member. Smith Apartments was completed in August 2009.
Amenities
Like all other upperclassmen facilities, Smith apartments are unfurnished. The apartments are carpeted and have blinds on all windows. In addition, Smith apartments include utilities and commodities, such as water, trash, electricity, gas, basic cable in the living room, high-speed wireless Internet, and a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and garbage disposal. Apartments are individually heated and cooled and mailboxes are centrally located.

How are roommates selected?
Roommates are first assigned based on requests from the residents. If a student has no roommate preference, the Community and Residential Development staff will do their best to aid him/her in finding a compatible roommate. However, the responsibility of finding a roommate ultimately resides with the student seeking housing.
How many roommates will I have?
The Office of Community and Residential Development has a maximum and minimum number of occupants allowed in each apartment. Please contact us for more information.
How can I decorate my room?
You may decorate your room in any way you like as long as your decorations conform to Community Life Standards and housing guidelines and do not damage any part of the apartment. Nails or anything that damages the walls are not allowed.
