Friends University and the Mid-America Yearly Meeting of Friends were awarded a grant from the Kansas Humanities Council called "Cataloging and Preserving Historic Quaker Photos for the Mid-America Yearly Meeting of Friends."
Students, Library Faculty and Staff have categorized approximately 700 pictures into the subject headings/categories of Missions, Academies, Families, Meetings and Ministers, and Miscellaneous. For preservation purposes approximately 225 pictures of the 700 pictures will have 4 X 5 inch black and white reprints and negatives made by the Kansas State Historical Society. These pictures will be protected by plastic sleeves and housed in a special filing cabinet in the Mid-America Yearly Meeting Room.
Researchers can view the front and back sides of approximately 135 of the 225 pictures that were sent to the State Historical Society on the library's Website:

The subject headings/catergories can be located in the library's catalog. Cataloging groups of pictures and individual pictures will be an ongoing project.
