Master of Science in Information Security You will learn… The Master of Science in Information Security (MSIS) degree provides a solid foundation in understanding emerging security threats and solutions, assessing the strategic and operational security needs of information and network systems, and managing, implementing and maintaining recommended security solutions. You will analyze and document requirements for architecture, design and the purpose of computer systems. You will learn to develop security protocols that can protect database systems and data communications. Information security research activities will give you practical experience that will prepare you to protect your organization’s technology and information assets.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts faster-than-average job growth for information security-related occupations through 2020. Where is the Master of Science in Information Security offered? We offer adult-focused master’s degrees in Wichita, Topeka, the greater Kansas City area and online. Not all courses and programs are available in all locations or in both online and on-campus formats. Please check with your Admissions Counselor for more details.

How many credit hours will it take to complete the degree? Each three-credit course is offered in an eight-week session. On-campus courses meet one night a week. The Master of Science in Information Security degree requires 36 credit hours.

Is the degree accredited? Yes. All Friends University undergraduate and graduate degrees are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

Will I be required to take a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)? No. Neither test is required for entrance into graduate programs at Friends University. All graduate programs require a pre-admissions interview with the program director.
