Monty Alexander Trio to Perform Sept. 12

Friends University welcomes the Monty Alexander Trio as part of the Sebits Jazz Series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.

Alexander, a pianist, has built his reputation in his exploration of music with his unique combinations of jazz, popular song and music from his native Jamaica. In his five-decade career, he has performed and recorded with major industry artists including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Ernest Ranglin, Barbara Hendricks, Bill Cosby, Bobby McFerrin, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, and $12 for senior citizens and students.
