Friends University announces partnership with four Kansas community colleges

Wichita, KS — Friends University has partnered with four Kansas community colleges to offer on-site degree programs to students attending Hutchinson Community College, Dodge City Community College, Garden City Community College and Seward County Community College.

The program, “Finish with Friends,” will offer degree completion in accounting, business management, computer information systems, and human resource management at the Hutchinson, Dodge City and Seward County community college locations. Garden City Community College students can “Finish with Friends” with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

Students at all of the partner colleges will have the opportunity to select a degree path and enter into a program that provides upper-level classes taught by Friends University faculty on each community college campus. Degree-program enrollees will be guaranteed admission to Friends University with the completion of application requirements and may transfer up to 78 earned credit hours, a number that generously exceeds the national average of transferable credit hours accepted by higher institutions of learning. Additionally, Friends University and each of the partner community colleges will offer academic advising in a dual advising process.

“The objective of the community college partnerships,” says Friends University Interim Dean of the College of Adult and Professional Studies and Dean of the Graduate School, David Hofmeister, Ph.D., “is to increase access and affordability of higher education for students outside of Kansas’ metropolitan and university campus areas.

“The reality is that many students and prospective students find that the expense of moving to a university campus or another town to complete their degrees is prohibitive, especially for students that have full-time employment. The goal of these partnerships is to increase career opportunities for Kansas students by helping to increase the number of Kansas students who earn four-year degrees. It’s a win for everyone.”

Prospective students can get more information at any of the partner colleges or by contacting the Friends University Admissions office at 316-295-5300 or at www.friends.edu/finish-with-friends.
