Friends University will once again close its doors Dec. 14 for the 17th year. Approximately 250 staff, faculty and students will help the Salvation Army prepare for its holiday distribution to needy children and families in the Wichita area. The group will eat together before leaving for the distribution facility at the former Honeywell building. The group will assemble bikes, sort and bag toys and stocking stuffers, decorate the distribution facility, and much more.

Friends University also celebrates the more than 100 students who will host a Christmas party for the 56 children they have been paired up with this year through Communities in Schools. This is the 17th year for the Christmas for Kids program, which began as a Psychology Club-sponsored event. Student participants will play games and give the children Christmas presents after a special appearance and photos with Santa Claus Dec. 8.
