Several Friends University education students were awarded honors by prestigious Kansas organizations in the fall.

English education major Katelin Allen and Charlotte Brickman, an elementary education major, were both awarded the Teacher of Promise Award Nov. 22. The two went to the State Department of Education-hosted workshop and the Teacher of the Year State Awards Banquet at the Marriott Hotel in Wichita in conjunction with a Teacher Hall of Fame for undergraduates. Friends University faculty selected Allen and Brickman from a pool of six candidates by random selection due to the level of qualification from each candidate. The Teachers of Promise award recipients are students who have not finished their teacher education program but are working toward completion.

Megan Hudson, a nominee for the Teacher of Promise award, received a competitive, state-level recognition by the Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She is a physical education major.
