The Friends University Ballet and Wichita Ballet Theatre will present their Spring Ballet at 7:30 p.m. March 5 and 6 and at 2 p.m. March 7 in Sebits Auditorium. In this spring’s performance the Friends University Ballet will be performing all new ballets with three different choreographers.
Friends University Ballet and Wichita Ballet Theater will present a tribute to music composer Richard Rodgers in a ballet with choreography by Director Stan K. Rogers including dances to memorable melodies like “With a Song in My Heart,” “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” and many others. This ballet will end with “On Your Toes.”
Premiering on the program will be a new ballet by Ashley Brittingham, faculty adjunct in ballet, with music by Frederic Chopin. The ballet entitled “Memories in Melody” is a neo-classical spin on Chopin’s popular waltzes.
In addition, a new work by Stan K. Rogers, “Glass Pieces,” will explore the minimal movements and how these movements can be manipulated and elongated.
This is an excellent chance to see new and very different ballets.
Reserved seats are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students and are available by calling 316-295-5537.
