The Singing Quakers choir will sing in various parts of Kansas this March with their “At Home on the Range” tour.
“Listeners throughout the country, even the world, have been duly impressed and inspired by the quality of musical selections and the sensitive musicianship consistently demonstrated by this truly fine choral music ensemble,” said Dr. Thomas H. Cook, interim chair, Division of Fine Arts. “This is a remarkable group of young singers who have worked diligently, under the capable leadership of Dr. Mark Bartel, to prepare and share great choral music.”
The choir will sing at 7 p.m. March 12 at Liberty Middle School; 6:30 p.m. March 13 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church Cathedral of the Plains in Victoria, Kan.; 11 a.m. March 14 at Colby United Methodist Church; 3 p.m. March 14 at Atwood High School; and at 7 p.m. March 15 at Garden City High School.
The mission of the Friends University Singing Quakers is to inspire people through high quality choral performance. ‘At Home on the Range’ reflects both the heritage of faith of the Singing Quakers and their connection to Kansas. The performance will feature both sacred classics and modern showstoppers and a set of songs about the state composed by Kansas musicians.
“The tour’s selections reflect the outpouring of the human spirit in songs of praise and petition, despair and delight,” said Dr. Mark Bartel, director.
