Friends to Offer Programs for Adults in Coffeyville, Independence Area

Friends University will be offering individuals in the Coffeyville and Independence areas several on-ground or partly on-ground programs starting in October.

Friends University will offer its 24-month Master of Health Care Leadership (MHCL) program, which starts October 2010 at Coffeyville Community College (CCC). The program will be offered partly on-ground and partly online, with class members meeting once a month at CCC. The MHCL program was developed as the first master’s-level degree specifically directed at leadership in health care administration in Wichita. The program, which is being expanded beyond Wichita, will prepare students for responsible positions of professional leadership in the health-care environment. The course work was developed by leaders in the health care industry and specifically designed to encompass all phases of health care leadership, including acute and long-term care, clinic and hospital management, and home health and hospice agencies.

A 17-month Organizational Management and Leadership (OML) program will start on-ground in February 2011 at Coffeyville Community College, with class members meeting once a week. The OML program is an upper-level degree completion program designed for employed adults. The program explores functions of management, organizational research and behavior, interpersonal communications, and human resource management.

An 18-month Business Management program will start on-ground in February 2011 at Independence Community College, with class members meeting once a week. The Business Management program is a degree completion program designed for employed adults.  The program focuses on managerial concepts as well as quantitative controls at both the strategic and operational levels through explorations in the disciplines of improved processes, quantitative decision-making, problem solutions development, information systems, accounting, business law, project development, communications and marketing.

In addition to the above on-ground programs, residents from the area or from any location can also sign up for the following fully online programs:

  • Organizational Managements and Leadership (OML)
  • Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
  • Master of Management Information Systems (MMIS)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
