Approximately 125 Colvin Elementary School third-graders will participate in a variety of campus activities as part of Friends University’s annual Week of Welcome Service Day, Aug. 22.
Colvin Elementary School students will learn the importance and excitement of attending college while interacting with approximately 300 incoming freshmen and transfer students.
“For one day, our students will be their biggest fan,” said Preston Todd, director of campus and career transitions, who helped coordinate the enrichment day. “We have the opportunity to encourage them through life and let them know we are here to encourage them.”
Activities include lunch, reading, a fine arts showcase, education about each school’s mascot and games.
"We are hoping this is not a one-time event,” Todd said, “rather, the start of lasting partnership between the two schools.”
