Friends University’s faculty members will showcase their diverse musical talents in the Faculty Brass Quintet Concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
The concert will be comprised of four brass instrument professors: Dr. Gary It’s sure to be a reunion of epic proportions, as more than 70 alumni of the Singing Quakers will come together in a Concert of American Classics at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Road in Wichita.
Dr. Cecil J. Riney will conduct the Singing Quakers Alumni Choir as it performs this collection of hymns, spirituals, folk songs and music theater. This year’s special guests will include Dr. Kevin Fenton, a conductor from Florida State University and Friends University alumnus.
Besides the 70-voice choir, the performance will also include a brass ensemble, hand bell choir, pipe organist Anna Jeter, and guest soloist Earnest Alexander.
“The Singing Quakers Alumni Choir is in its 17th season and works closely with Friends University and the Alumni Office to promote the University and the performance of choral literature in the spirit of excellence,” said Scot Peirce, Singing Quakers alumnus. “This concert will include selections that many will know and love.”
