Horn Quartet to Debut During Chamber Orchestra
Friends University’s Horn Quartet will be making its debut performance during the Chamber Orchestra and Brass Ensembles Concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.
This musical performance will include not only the Horn Quartet, but also the Brass Quintet, Tuba Quartet and Trumpet Ensemble.
“The tradition of chamber music goes back for centuries,” said Dr. John Taylor, professor of music at Friends University. “All of the renowned composers wrote music for chamber ensembles. This is a unique opportunity to hear Friends University students perform this repertoire.”
Daniel Racer, instructor of music, said the chamber orchestra will be performing an extended work by Robert Schumann titled “Forest Scenes.”
“The work is originally for solo piano, and I have arranged it into a version for string orchestra,” Racer said. “The piece is nine movements, each portraying a different ‘scene.’”
This performance is free and open to the public. For more information on this performance or other Fine Arts events, please contact the Fine Arts box office at 316-295-5677 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
