Friends University will present an exciting evening filled with rhythmic explosions at the Percussion Ensemble Concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28 in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium.

The percussion ensemble concert will feature works for a variety of instruments and from a variety of styles according to adjunct faculty member Ginger Zyskowski.

“There will be classic percussion literature plus some more contemporary pieces,” Zyskowski said. “We will hear music from Night on Bald Mountain as well as some improvisation on pitched and non-pitched instruments.”

Rachel Cutler will be featured with the timpani solo, “Raga,” that she performed at her junior recital earlier this month. Additionally, Toni Libhart, assistant professor of music and percussion, and Zyskowski will perform a mallet duet of some classical violin music.

“The program should be entertaining and exciting for all ages,” Zyskowski said.

This performance is free and open to the public. For more information on this performance or other Fine Arts events, please contact the Fine Arts box office at 316-295-5677 or finearts@friends.edu.
