Friends University’s Ballet Department will host auditions for its spring ballet, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” from 5-6 p.m. Jan. 11 in the ballet studios in the Riney Fine Arts Center on the Friends University Campus. Auditions are for children 9-13 years old.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a lavish ballet based on the classic comedy by William Shakespeare, and it will include new scenery and costumes. Director Stan K. Rogers will direct and choreograph this story with music by Felix Mendelssohn. The comic love plot is wrought by fairies and magic. The fairies maneuver the events in a human love story while they, at the same time, are engaged in difficulties of their own.
The spring ballet will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 2 and 3, and at 2 p.m. March 4. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $12 senior citizens and students.
