UPDATE: Due to weather, the concert will be held in Sebits Auditorium in Riney Fine Arts Center.
Singer-songwriter Graham Colton will be coming to Friends University for a free concert at 9 p.m. Sept. 7 on the Green Residence Hall lawn.
Colton has toured with John Mayer, Maroon 5, Dave Matthews Band, Train, The Wallflowers and pop superstar Kelly Clarkson. His latest album, “Coast Eyes,” is the follow-up to his 2008 album, “Here Right Now.”
While on tour, Colton wrote “Best Days,” for the album “Here Right Now,” which was chosen as “Song of the Week” on iTunes, accruing more than 700,000 downloads. “Best Days” became the exit music for “American Idol,” was used in a year-end commercial for HBO and was chosen by Oprah Winfrey for her Big Give television specials. “Here Right Now” debuted at number two on the Billboard new artist chart and number four on the iTunes pop chart.
Colton, who is renowned for uncanny pop sensibility with deep roots in folk and rock music, has already earned both critical and mainstream acclaim for his ability to write lyrics about universal themes of love and loss, and everything between in a way that uniquely ties himself to listeners.
Opening for Colton will be Daniel Herbert and Brothers at 8 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. For information on this event, call 316-295-5832.
