A holiday tradition comes alive as Friends University presents its annual showcase of “The Nutcracker,” complete with Sugar Plum Fairy, a mouse king and a handsome prince.
Show times for opening weekend are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7-8, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 9. The second weekend of performances are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14-15 with the final show at 2 p.m. Dec. 16.
This year’s featured artists are all from the New York City Ballet. Abi Stafford and Adrian Danchig-Waring will perform Dec. 7-9. Returning artist Wendy Whelan, along with partner Chase Finley, will dance Dec. 14-16. Other dancers will be a combination of talent from Friends University and the Wichita Ballet. Stan K. Rogers, professor of dance at Friends University, is the director.
All performances are in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
