Friends University will display artwork by Joel T. Dugan Jan. 14 to Feb. 8 in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery. Additionally, Dugan will participate in an artist demonstration at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 in the Garvey Art Center.

Dugan, an assistant professor or painting at Fort Hays State University, says the balance of life with technology has significance in his work.

“This concept along with abstraction, gravity, and occupation are the overlapping themes driving my work. The embellishments and starkness in my imagery are juxtaposed to illuminate the polarizing issues of the contemporary era,” Dugan said.

A Final Friday reception from 5 to 7 p.m. will be held in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery.

The demonstration, exhibit, and reception are free and open to the public. For more information about Dugan, please go to www.joeltdugan.com.
