Jose Alvarado merges the worlds of science and art in his display Sept. 16 to Oct. 11 at Friends University. A Final Friday reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery.

“My artistic process has always been driven by my curiosity of science and psychology. This series of work expresses my emotional journey through the understanding and discovery of biomechanics,” Alvarado said in his artist statement. “I’m intrigued by the dichotomy developed by the fluidity of emotion in conjunction with the rigidity of the mechanical process. This concept embodies the creation of my artwork and conceptual artistic practice.”

Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
