Artist and art professor Dane Jones will explore new ways to view history through his exhibit through April 4 at the Friends University Riney Fine Arts Gallery.
“My work derives from searching and finding something that could be responsible for opening new ideas or thoughts on old aspects of history. I would like the viewer to be mindful of one's own environment and existence,” Jones said on this website. "I believe in knowing history, but also researching and questioning it.”
Jones attended Emporia State University where he earned his bachelor of fine arts in sculpture in 2005. Jones took a year off between undergraduate and graduate school working odd jobs and working in an art foundry. In 2006, he accepted a graduate teaching assistant position at Wichita State University in the printmaking department. In the spring of 2009, he was awarded a master of fine arts degree in printmaking. Jones is currently an adjunct professor of printmaking at Newman University.
A Final Friday reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 28 in the Riney Fine Arts Gallery. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
