The Friends University Topeka Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) is putting its blood, sweat and tears into its next community outreach event – especially blood.

The AAB is hosting a blood drive for the Red Cross from noon to 6 p.m. April 17 at the Topeka Center, 2820 SW Mission Woods Drive.

“Anyone can donate,” said Marie Carter, a member of the Topeka AAB, “but we’re challenging Rasmussen College, Baker University and WTI for bragging rights."

Carter said this is the first year for this particular event, but it is part of an ongoing effort by the AAB, the Topeka Center, and the University as a whole to reach out to the community.

“Friends University is a university of the community, and we want to connect and contribute more to the Topeka community,” she said.

As an incentive to help out with the blood drive, the first 25 donators will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.
