Degree completion programs are common among many educational institutions these days, but Friends University was offering busy adults educational programs designed to meet their needs in the Wichita region long before other local institutions. It wasn’t long until the University’s history of bringing education to people resulted in the first degree completion offerings outside the Wichita city limits.
In 1989, Friends University took its first degree completion program – the Human Resource Management program – to Hutchinson Community College. Other degree completion programs followed, and the number of community college partnerships rapidly expanded in the 1990s. Today, Friends University partners with more than 15 community colleges so busy adults in communities across the state can earn their undergraduate and graduate degrees while maintaining their work, family and social responsibilities.
