Licensed to Teach

The English language arts education degree is a four-year program that prepares students to teach English to grades 6-12.

Special Honors

In the last three years, two Friends University English language arts education majors have been awarded the Teacher of Promise.

Highly Successful

All English education majors were employed as teachers within a year of graduation. English education majors consistently pass the Praxis with high scores.

Intership Opportunity

The program includes an internship at the middle or high school level during the fall semester of the senior year. Friends University boasts successful relationships with the middle and secondary schools of Wichita and the surrounding areas.

Licensed to Teach

Graduates are licensed to teach by the state of Kansas after successfully completing the degree and passing the Principles of Learning and Teaching Exam (PLT). Other requirements for a degree include a cumulative 2.75 grade point average with no “D” grades in the major.
