General Admission Requirements

  • Complete and sign the transcript request form for all institutions previously attended. Ask your admission counselor for assistance with this process. Official transcripts are only valid if sent directly from the high school or college to Friends University. Transcripts sent to you are considered unofficial. If you process your own request for transcripts, please make sure they are sent directly to:Friends University Admissions Processing
    2100 W. University Ave.
    Wichita, KS 67213
  • If required, request that your official ACT or SAT scores are sent to the Office of Admission

Requirements for Incoming Freshmen

All students applying for admission to the traditional undergraduate program are required to meet the following admissions criteria:

  1. ACT Composite Score of 18 or higher (an adjusted scale is used for students submitting SAT scores).
  2. Minimum High School cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher or equivalent.

Beginning in the fall of 2022, Friends University will adopt a test-optional admissions policy. Students applying for test-optional admission are required to meet the following admissions criteria:

  1. Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.25 or equivalent.

Applicants who completed a home school education pursue Friends University admission through the traditional admission process.

Applicants meeting the admissions criteria will be fully admitted to the University. Applicants who do not meet the minimum criteria are not fully admitted to the University; these applicants have the option to appeal to the Admissions Appeals Committee to be admitted on Academic Probation.

Applicants with an ACT composite score lower than 16 or a cumulative high school GPA lower than 2.0 will be denied admission without right of appeal. Students applying through the test-optional admissions policy with a cumulative high school GPA lower than 2.5 will be denied admission without right of appeal unless a test score is submitted.

Academic appeals will not be reviewed more than one academic semester prior to the students desired start date. All academic appeals are due by the end of business day prior to the first day of the semester. Appeals received after the deadline will be reviewed for the following semester.

*Please note: Test scores, such as ACT or SAT, may be required for specific scholarship consideration, athletic eligibility through the NAIA, admission to specific programs, and will be considered by the Academic Appeals Committee for all academic appeals.

Requirements for Transfer Students

  • Transfer students with fewer than 15 transferable semester credits must apply under the traditional admission as either test-optional or by submitting ACT/SAT scores and official high school transcripts. Consideration for admissions will fall under traditional admission standards.
  • Transfer students with 15 or more transferable semester credits and a grade point average of 2.0 or higher are to be fully admitted to Friends University. Applicants who do not meet the minimum criteria are not fully admitted to the University. Applicants with a GPA of 1.8 or higher have the option to appeal to the Admissions Appeals Committee to be admitted on Academic Probation.
  • Note: Transfer courses with “D” grades may not be used to meet major or grade-based graduation requirements but will be posted to a student’s transcript.
  • Applicants with a cumulative GPA 1.8 or lower will be denied admission without the right of appeal. All academic appeals are due by the end of business day prior to the first day of the semester. Appeals received after the deadline will be reviewed for the following semester.

  • Applicants with test scores lower than 410 in any GED content area and ACT composite score lower than 15 will not be admitted.

Requirements for International Applicants

As an international student, there are a few more requirements for admission, but we’ll walk you through them step by step. Get all the information you need to be admitted to Friends University as an international student.

Placement Testing

Placement testing is offered at Friends University to assess students’ current skillset and college readiness in the subjects of English and math. We want to ensure that students take courses that they can succeed in, which is why our placement tests determine specific English and Math courses that students may enroll in.

Not all incoming students need to take a placement test. Exemptions are subject-specific, which means you may qualify for an exemption in one area (such as English) but not in another area (such as Math).

If you do not qualify for an exemption, you are required to participate in placement testing. Placement Testing is administered through the Academic Resource Center (ARC). If you need to take a placement exam, please email arc@friends.edu or visit in-person on the first floor of the library.

A note about ADA accommodations:For students with IEPs or 504 plans in high school who need to take a math and/or English placement exam on the Enrollment Day, we will be able to offer testing accommodations with proof of a disability.

For approval for placement testing accommodations, fill out the form linked here, and upload documentation of the disability (diagnosis, IEP or 504 plan, etc.), at least 3 days before Enrollment Day. This is the same form necessary for accommodations in classes, so you’ll be a step ahead for Fall.
