Senior Internship

The 180 hour senior internship provides you with valuable local experience that can prepare you for employment nationally. Internships at the health clubs provide opportunities to earn personal trainer certification and you may even start to build a client base.

Leadership Experience

Facilities like the YMCA provide a variety of leadership experience activities, which include but are not limited to: game planning; tournament scheduling; promotion development; sponsorship coordination; and marketing.

What can you do with a degree in Health and Physical Education?

Students graduating with a degree in Health and Physical Education are employed in various fitness related facilities. Those opportunities range from private clubs like Genesis Health Clubs to nationwide organizations like the YMCA.

Program Outcomes

  • Possess scientific knowledge in the areas of kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology and laboratory data collection. To be considered proficient, the student must score 70 percent or higher on the Summative Kinesiology, Biomechanics & Exerciser Physiology Knowledge Assessment.
  • Develop a plan and then teach a team sport. To be considered proficient, the student must score 70 percent or higher on the Unit Presentation Rubric.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills that will enable you to successfully complete an off-campus internship. To be considered successfully completed, the student must score 70 percent or higher on the Health and Physical Education Agency Supervisor’s Final Evaluation form.
