WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Christa Buerki, 2008 graduate in communications
I was planning to go to a state university for a specific program, but my parents encouraged me to also apply at Friends University. After being accepted at both universities, my parents and I crunched the numbers. When I factored in all the scholarships I was going to receive from Friends and the fact that I could live at home, Friends University was considerably less expensive than the state university. I couldn’t get as many scholarships from the state school, and just one of my academic scholarships covered nearly half my tuition at Friends!

The University has a very comfortable "feels like home" atmosphere that you can’t find at just any college. I have yet to hear of another college that cares so much about their students.

WHAT PARENTS SAY
Lori Hoppock, 1987 graduate and parent of Taylor Hoppock, 2011 graduate in accounting
Taylor wanted a smaller campus atmosphere along with smaller classes. The business department appealed to him, knowing the smaller classes would lend to more participation and attention to students.

We have appreciated the approach Friends University has taken with our son. They have looked at the whole person and helped broaden experiences by offering scholarships from several different departments — all of which have added up to an affordable option. I believe Friends University’s students are viewed favorably in our community and may have an advantage in the job market after graduation. That was my own experience after graduating in 1987 and being hired quickly into the Wichita Public Schools system.

Glenda VanSant, 1976 graduate and parent of David VanSant, graduate
Scholarships from different sources and departments within the University have made all the difference. Our first child received a Presidential Scholarship. We were pleased that our second child was able to get the same amount of aid through a combination of scholarships.

Our son loves learning and feels a personal connection to the faculty. He feels like a professional while being a student. They value his input, and he has a sense of making important contributions to the University. What a great decision we made in choosing Friends University! I can’t think of a better investment we could have made for the future.
