The Wichita Wind Ensemble (WWE), formed in 1991, is both a professional adult band and an organization of honors concert bands comprised of middle and high school students auditioned from across south-central Kansas.

Friends University shares its strongest connection to this organization in Dr. John Taylor, the WWE musical director and a Friends University professor of music. The WWE student bands have won national and international competitions. The WWE Professional Band season includes four concerts that feature renowned soloists and guest conductors.
