Off to the Ballgame! Friends University senior opens Royals Game with National Anthem

Wichita, Kan. – Samantha Scantlin, Friends University vocal performance senior, will be opening the Kansas City Royals baseball game by singing the National Anthem on May 3. The Royals, who just launched their season on April 1, will be playing against the Cleveland Indians on their home turf at 7:10 CDT.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to sing at a Royals game. I knew when I auditioned that getting chosen would be a long shot so I feel very honored,” said Samantha Scantlin.

Dr. Matthew Schloneger, associate professor of voice, acts as her vocal coach at Friends University. “Samantha has been one of our top singers throughout her college career and she has always excelled at singing the anthem. I’m so proud that she’ll get to perform and represent Friends with the Royals!” said Schloneger

The game will be broadcast at 7:10 p.m CDT on Wichita Sports Talk Radio KFH (97.5) and subscribers can watch on foxsportsgo.com.
