Friends University students recognized as Friends University Teachers of Promise

Friends University is pleased to announce two senior teacher education students, Victoria Gier and Jack Leyden, have been recognized as 2021 spring semester Friends University Teachers of Promise. Both Gier and Leyden are pursuing degrees in education with Gier focusing on a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Leyden is seeking a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts Education.

The Friends University Division of Education recognizes two student teachers each semester demonstrating exemplary classroom work. Also being celebrated for honorable mentions for their remarkable classroom work are students Aileen Gurrola-Flores, Isaac Chirchir and Jayanara Johnson.

In addition to the Friends University Teachers of Promise recognition, senior education students have the opportunity to be selected for the annual Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Teachers of Promise. Teachers of Promise honorees are students selected by their respective Kansas college or university who are enrolled in a program that offers teacher preparation. Each student not only represents their respective school, but they also have incredible opportunities to learn from and network with excellent educators and policy leaders.
