The holiday season is a fantastic time of celebration. Friends University celebrates Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with a variety of events throughout the season. Read on to learn more about some of our long standing holiday traditions!
Ceremony of Lights
Join us on Nov. 23, 2025 at 6 p.m. as Friends University illuminates the historic Davis clock tower! This time-honored tradition, now in its 27th year, on the Friends University campus at Rose Window Plaza is a symbol of the start of the holiday season for the campus and the Wichita community. Enjoy an evening of carols and festive music from the Friends University Singing Quakers and the Friends University Band, Christmas trees, cookies and cocoa, and much more as we celebrate the Ceremony of Lights. Santa will also be making a special appearance and available for photos!

While not specifically a holiday event, come cheer on the Falcons as many of our fall sports take place in playoffs at the end of their seasons in late October through November. And by December, basketball and volleyball are in full swing! Visit the Friends University Athletics website for more details on game times and locations.
Salvation Army Day
Each year since 1992, Friends University staff, faculty and student groups join together to serve at the Salvation Army, as part of Angel Tree Project. The university assists the charity group with donation pick-ups, gift sorting, bike assembly, and decoration the facility for the families.
